2008 in Review
2008 has been a busy year for our small mom and pop rescue
organization. We took in a total of 21 Mastiffs and have found forever
homes for all but three. Snuggles will have been in foster for a year in March. She has fought and won her battle with her weight and heart worms. Little Tai is still looking for the perfect match. And Crazy Jake is recovering from foot surgery and will soon be ready for adoption.
It has been a year of tremendous triumph and great sadness. Snuggles
has beaten the nasty heart worm and is extremely healthy now. We have
also lost several dogs to the “Rainbow Bridge.” Lucas, Maggie Mae,
Wilson, Chewey, Poppy, Clifford and Samson “Sammie” all have gone to
wait for their owners at the Rainbow Bridge.
We have had a
successful year fund raising for the Big Dogs. We had booths at Pets in
the Pearl, Turkey Rama, and the NW Pet and Companion Fair. Our annual
“Rummage for Rescue” was bigger and better than ever. We had over 50
tables full of treasures to buy. Every penny that was made, went to pay
for medical bills, food and treats for these big babies.
None
of this would be possible without the generous contributions of time,
services, goods, and money given throughout the year. For that we owe
you a very big THANK YOU! We would also like to thank the staff of
Carlton Veterinary Hospital for their support, never ending patience
with all our questions, medical care, and treatment of all of our
Rescues.
2009 is already starting off with a bang. We
anticipate even more Mastiffs than usual will need to find new homes
this year due to the economy and foreclosures. We will need to find new
and innovative ways to raise funds for 2009. We will be having a “mini”
rummage sale this spring along with our annual one in August. Keep
checking our Events Calendar for locations of informational booths this
spring and summer.
Again, thank you for Lending a Hand to the Big Dogs in Need!
Susan & Gary May

PET OWNERS - Please Note: There is heart worm in Oregon. Snuggles has never left the state. Please have your dogs checked for heart worm and then put on preventative. You can avoid this heartbreak and expense by having a simple blood test done.
Shop PetMeds and they will donate to our rescue!
